Author summary: The baseline of Peruvian maize genetic diversity, published in 2018, compiles studies conducted between 2013 and 2017 on the distribution, genetic diversity, socioeconomic aspects and traditional knowledge associated with the crop in 23 departments of the country. Based on the historical collection of the Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina, survey methodologies, floral biology and pollen flow, as well as the diversity of associated organisms were validated. This information constitutes a key technical input for biosafety decisions within the framework of the Cartagena Protocol.
